Research shows that vaping is the most effective tool to help quit smoking In recent years, it seems like not a day goes past without a news headline extolling the benefits of vaping for smokers who want to quit. Man vaping with e-liquid uk from RainbowvapesWith a myriad of expensive products on the market, ranging from inhalers and patches to prescription medications and hypnosis, it has traditionally been a bewildering and costly exercise to give up cigarettes. Research published this week, however, has shown that vaping is the most efficient and effective way to help smokers give up their harmful addiction for good.

A success rate for vaping that was almost double

The study, which monitored the outcomes of approximately 900 people, was led by a team at Queen Mary University in London and published in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine. It was designed as a randomised control study, in which people were given either nicotine alternatives or vaping products, and the participants had all been smokers for a significant period. At the conclusion of the trial, researchers discovered that 18% of smokers who had switched to vaping had successfully quit, whereas less than 10% of those using other therapies had done so. For people considering giving up smoking, this result indicates that vaping products could make the process smoother and more efficient.

A more consistent and pleasant process

Not only did the study follow each participant's success in quitting smoking, but it also monitored how often they continued to use their replacement products. At the conclusion of the trial, the researchers found that almost 4 out of 5 individuals e-liguid and e-cigarette from rainbowvapeswho were assigned vaping products were still using their device. In comparison, after a year, less than 1 in 10 of the people using traditional nicotine replacements were still consistently using the various different items that they were assigned. With the wide range of e-liquid options available, it's unsurprising that the vaping group still used their device. Meanwhile, throughout the trial process, clinicians also noted that the vaping group reported a reduced number of the common symptoms of nicotine withdrawal, such as becoming unfocused. This aspect of the study illustrates that vaping may be able to make the process of giving up smoking an easier and more seamless one, reducing the common stumbling blocks that can cause people to return to smoking.
